Privacy Policy

The short version

What Matters stores the task list you keep in it, plus the minimum needed to run your account. There are no ads, no third-party trackers, no analytics scripts, and your data is never sold or shared for marketing. AI assistants can only touch your list when you explicitly connect them, and you can revoke that at any time.

What we collect

• Account details. When you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your email address and name from that provider. We never see your password, and Apple lets you hide your real address.
• Your content. The items, notes, links and rules you (or an assistant you connected) put into your list.
• Subscription status. If you subscribe to Pro through Apple, we receive confirmation of the subscription from Apple — never your payment details.
• Device tokens. If you enable notifications on a device, we store the token needed to deliver them.
• Operational basics. Usage counters that enforce fair-use limits, and short-lived technical logs that keep the service healthy.

Cookies

One cookie, for staying signed in. No advertising or analytics cookies, and nothing follows you around the web.

AI connections

Connecting an assistant like Claude or ChatGPT creates a private token that lets it read your list and propose or make changes, scoped to your account only. Connections exist only when you create them, are listed by name, and are revocable with one click — revocation is immediate. What an assistant does with information it reads is governed by that assistant's own privacy terms.

Where your data lives

On Cloudflare's infrastructure, encrypted in transit. Access tokens are stored only as hashes, so a copy of the database grants nobody access to your account.

Deleting your data

You can export everything your account holds at any time from Connections → Your Data. To delete your account and everything in it, open the iPhone app and go to Settings → Delete my account. If you don't have the app, email support@blackdogranch.com and we'll do it for you. Either way, deletion is permanent and unrecoverable by design: your items, rules, connections and the account itself are erased, and nothing is kept.
